Criminal Court

  • Felony
    The Felony Division handles all criminal offenses that may be punishable by death or imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. Examples of these types of charges include murder, manslaughter, grand theft, kidnapping, aggravated assault, rape, worthless checks exceeding $150.00, burglary, and many drug charges.
  • Misdemeanor
    The Misdemeanor Division handles all criminal offenses that have a maximum penalty of one year or less in the county jail. This would include criminal traffic violations such as driving under the influence, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, petit theft, some drug charges, municipal and county ordinances.
  • Juvenile
    The Juvenile Division is responsible for cases in which the person has not yet attained the age at which he or she should be treated as an adult for purposes of a criminal offense.
  • Traffic
    The Traffic Division is responsible for processing all traffic citations that are non-criminal in nature and can usually be disposed of by payment of a civil penalty.
